Goodfellow Family Cellars "Durant Vineyard" Pinot Noir '23

    Willamette Valley

Goodfellow Family Cellars "Durant Vineyard" Pinot Noir '23

Durant Vineyard is farmed by Paul Durant, the second generation in his family to care for these vines. The vineyard spans from 250-700 feet of gentle, east facing slope in the Dundee Hills AVA, with our block of Pinot Noir midway up the slope at 400ft. The deep volcanic Jory soils provide moisture for non-irrigated vines late into the growing season, the Pinot Noir is mid-way up the slope, and the hillside behind the vineyard shelters the vines from the harshness of late afternoon sun. The wines are elegant and prettily red fruited, with softer tannins, and a warm lushness on the palate. - Marcus Goodfellow

The 2023 Pinot Noir Durant Vineyard comes from dry-farmed vines planted in volcanic soils in 1998. It has detailed aromas of red cherry, cranberry, pipe tobacco, mossy bark, floral potpourri and bitters. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled with expressive layers of spicy fruit, soft, dusty tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, layered finish. 115 cases were made.
